Case Study: Maverics by Strata Identity
Over the last five years at Strata Identity, I designed the interface for their cloud based next-generation security and identity SaaS orchestration platform – Maverics Identity. Progressing the company from wire-frames, through hi-fidelity pages and ultimately into a live product used by customers such as Kroger, Motorola, Nokia and 3M.
Product Design (User Interface and Experience)
I was responsible for designing interfaces, improving user experiences by iterating on designs, creating and maintaining all page layouts, user flows, icons, navigation, and all other design system elements. I also created and updated dark/light modes using a variables based color design system. All this work was done using Figma for the frontend while providing prototypes and assets to the React team on the backend.
Complex Design Systems
At Strata Identity I created multiple Figma based design systems including a React developer specific version. We called this version Mercury and it contained only currently live elements in multiple states that were highly commented and descriptive. This system provided engineering with what they needed in a much more adaptable method that enabled faster and simpler updates they could immediately interact with.
Design Elements
I am regularly creating and iterating on pixel-perfect design elements from scratch; icons, buttons, menus, fields, radios, switches, sorts, inputs, selects, toggles, pills, tags, or any other kind of visual asset required.
Web Design (WordPress, Shopify, WIX, Elementor, Squarespace, html/css, etc)
I have built numerous websites over the years including corporate, commerce and SMBs. Typically I am responsible for all layout, communication, meetings, content collection as well as designing the logos, choosing the color palette, deciding on platform, building or making a theme, finding or taking photos and deciphering the users and clients needs. All while maintaining consistent production, typography, visual quality, affordability and a quick timeline.
Photography
I am a lifelong photographer, I primarily shoot product and landscape photography for use in websites. Being able to integrate professional product images or relevant photography into my designs has always been one of my go to methods for creating something unique. I have a small portfolio of my photos on unsplash.com and they have been used in multiple major websites theme packages including Squarespace, Wix and Figma.
